while I was reading a book, I found the book pretty interesting. Let me summarize some key points of the reading, and want to share it with you guys.
Why do we study video game, and who studies that?
the answer could be found from the book. That is, Since the game industry became financial juggernaut, and it is obvious that game industry will be essential part to the creation of new culture, such things need to be studied systematically. people who are professionals predominantly occupied with the study of video game.
How can we study Video game?
there are genenrally four typical types of analysis
first is rules and game which focus on structure and how it perform the game with its techniques like representation, and design
second is play which focuses on how players want to use the game as a type of socialization.
third is culture which focuses on wider culture that relates to the game
fourth is onotogy which examines the philosophical foundations of game.
